Buccaneers vs. Browns Key Stats
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' struggles in 2022 have largely been a result of their offensive fall off. After averaging 30.1 points per game last season, the second-most in the NFL, Tampa Bay has averaged just 18.3 points per game, 27th in the league. Their defense, however, has kept them afloat, allowing just 18.0 points per game, the fourth-fewest in the NFL.
The Cleveland Browns are simply looking to stay close enough to the postseason race to make a run when Deshaun Watson returns from suspension in Week 13. The Browns offense has been surprisingly good despite Watson's season-long absence.
Cleveland currently ranks 10th in scoring, averaging 24.0 points per game. The Browns defense, however, has been shockingly bad despite having plenty of playmakers. After finishing last season ranked 13th in scoring defense, allowing just 21.8 points per game, the Browns have allowed 26.9 points per game in 2022, ranking just 30th in scoring defense.
Buccaneers vs. Browns Betting Prediction
While both teams have severely underperformed relative to their expectations, they both still have plenty to play for as the season winds down. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers remain atop the NFC South, however, their lead is just half a game.
With no first-round pick in 2023 as a result of the Watson trade, the Cleveland Browns have no reason to tank. Unfortunately, their defense hasn't done enough to have faith in their ability to slow down even a poor Tampa Bay offense.
Look for Tom Brady and the Buccaneers to take advantage of one of the NFL's worst defenses by putting forth one of their best performances of the season.
Furthermore, despite their offensive success, expect the Browns to struggle to keep the pace against the Buccaneers defense. Expect Tampa Bay to win this contest by at least four points, effectively ending Cleveland's postseason chances before Watson returns.
Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers -3.5 (+100)
