Daniel Dubois vs. Kevin Lerena Preview, Betting Odds and Prediction - December 3

Tyson Fury v Derek Chisora: Weigh-In

WBA (regular) world champion Daniel Dubois will put his gold up for grabs against former IBO cruiserweight champion Kevin Lerena on the Fury vs. Chisora card. Lerena, a longtime cruiserweight fighter, has only had two fights since bulking up to heavyweight for his March clash with Bogdan Dinu. At cruiserweight, Lerena successfully defended the IBO title a commendable six times before making his move up

Dubois, meanwhile, has bounced back with gusto from his sole loss to Joe Joyce in November 2020. Sending Bogdan Dinu to sleep for the WBA interim title, Dubois was promoted to regular following his sensational KO of Trevor Bryan in June. Rumors have swirled of 'Triple D' looking to challenge unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk should he retain. A victory over Lerena could serve as a good litmus test given the South African's similar build and style to 'The Cat'.

Daniel Dubois vs. Kevin Lerena Tale of the Tape

'Dangerous' will enjoy a notable size advantage over his South African opponent tomorrow night. He's also the overwhelming favorite to win thanks to his major success in the heavyweight division over the past 18 months.

'The KO Kid' is likely used to being at a slight disadvantage size-wise considering his long run as a cruiserweight before he finally made the jump to the bigger weight class. A quick, technical striker, it's likely he'll use his head movement and cardio to try and avoid Dubois' immense punching power in the early rounds.

Kevin Lerena 306'1"234lbs74"28-1-0

Dubois vs. Lerena Prediction

In arguably the biggest fight yet of his career, Kevin Lerena is coming in as an overlooked underdog. Hopefully Dubois knows better than to take the threat '2 Guns' poses lightly or we could be in for a monumental upset. Of Lerena's 28 wins, 14 have come by knockout. The other 14, all by decision, showcased both Lerena's cardio and his fight IQ, revealing a knack for long term strategy and the endurance to execute it successfully.

That being said, Dubois' knockout power has proven to be a terrifying force time and time again. Of his 18 wins, 17 have come by knockout and a large number of those were executed within the first two rounds. If Dubois can get those power punches in early, the win should be his within the first few rounds. If not, his long-distance cardio will be tested for the first time since his tenth-round KO loss to Joe Joyce.

Prediction: Daniel Dubois via KO/TKO
