Duke Blue Devils vs. Ohio State Buckeyes Key Stats
Duke's freshman seven-footer Kyle Filipowski may already be the Blue Devils' best player. He enters tonight's contest averaging 15.4 points and 9.4 rebounds, along with 1.1 blocks and 1.3 steals. Filipowski is a deep threat, currently converting 36.4% of his 4.1 threes per game, which can help open up the floor for Duke's other scorers. His fellow freshman, Dereck Lively II, averages 1.4 blocks per game, and this pair of seven-footers makes it a nightmare for opposing penetrators. On the offensive glass, Duke's size is tough to contend with, and they currently average an impressive 13.6 offensive rebounds per game, which could be key tonight. Duke has just one player, junior point guard Jeremy Roach, that is also in double figures besides Filipowski, and Roach is also leading the way in dishing. Despite their 6-2 start, the Blue Devils have struggled shooting the ball, and so far, it's been the defense carrying them to wins.
Ohio State has done a great job defending the perimeter, and previously they held a good Texas Tech team to just 5-for-18 from three-point land. Offensively, the Buckeyes' freshman forward Brice Sensabaugh leads the way with 15.8 points per game on excellent efficiency. He's shooting 46.2% from three and 52.5% from the field, and it's not like his attempts are low. Junior forward Zed Key has taken a leap, averaging 12.5 points and 8.5 boards, so look for these two to have a strong impact tonight.
Duke Blue Devils vs. Ohio State Buckeyes Betting Prediction
These are two elite schools, and at the moment, their defenses have looked pretty solid. Despite Duke coming off a 19-point loss to Purdue, it's tough to bet against them at home, where they have one of the best crowds in all of college basketball. The best bet here is the under since it's gone that way in seven of Duke's previous eight games, including their last four in a row.
Prediction: Under 135.5 (-112)
