The Memphis Grizzlies take on the Utah Jazz on Saturday (October 29) at the Vivint Smart Home Arena. Both teams have identical records as they face off in an exciting Western Conference clash.
The Grizzlies have begun the season in good form, winning four of their opening five games. They come into this game on the back of two consecutive wins, the latest of which came against the Sacramento Kings.
In their win against the Kings, they shot the ball incredibly well, going 53% from the field and 42% from three. They have dominated in the West thus far, only losing against the Mavericks thus far. Desmond Bane and Ja Morant have formed a lethal partnership thus far and continue to light up the stat sheet in every game.
Morant, in particular, has been a man possessed. He is fresh off winning the Most Improved Player title last season and is on the up this campaign as well. He is averaging 32 points a night, coupled with almost seven assists. One of the most athletic and physically gifted guards in basketball, he has taken his shooting game to another level this season. Ja has often been typecast as one of those guards that dominate the paint, but this season he has shot the ball well from beyond the arc. He currently has shooting splits of 53, 56.5, and 87.5% cementing his name in the conversations for the best point guards in the NBA.

The Jazz, on the other hand, have been the surprise packages of the season. They have defied all odds and have won four of their opening six games of the season. While the Grizzlies depend on Ja to get most of the scoring done, the Jazz have spread that responsibility all across their roster. New arrivals such as Lauri Markkanen and Colin Sexton have hit the ground running, whereas established players such as Jordan Clarkson have new-found firepower.
Clarkson has been averaging nearly 17 points per game in addition to his five assists. His presence in the roster that went through an overhaul in the offseason has gone massively under the radar. His consistent performances have enabled his new teammates to showcase their brilliance and get their team off to a winning start.
