Miami vs. Rutgers Key Stats
Miami has four players averaging 13 points or more, which is a great balance to have over the course of a long season. Sophomore forward Norchad Omier is averaging a double-double of 13.4 points and 10.6 rebounds while shooting an efficient 62.7% from the field. While he doesn't attempt a ton of shots, the Arkansas State transfer has had a lawless transition after averaging 17.9 points and 12.2 rebounds last year, where he won Sun Belt Player of the Year. The Hurricanes' backcourt of Isaiah Wong and Nijel Pack has been solid too, and Wong's 2.1 steals ranks tied for second-best in the ACC. As a team, Miami's 8.6 steals is second to NC State, so look for them to be active defensively yet again.
Rutgers is off to a solid start, and they, too, have been amazing defensively. Cam Spencer is second in the entire country with 3.7 steals per contest, and the team's 11.8 swipes rank fifth out of 363 schools. On offense, Spencer is the leading scorer as well, up at 17.3 points per game on an efficient 53.1% from the field, including 46.9% from deep. While the rest of the team hasn't shot it well from three, big man Clifford Omoruyi is averaging 16.8 points and 10.0 boards, as well as two blocks. These two carry the scoring load, but other starters, Aundre Hyatt and Derek Simpson chip in also. Rutgers is holding opponents to 18% from three, and while this can be somewhat attributed to a weaker schedule, it is impressive nonetheless, and it's the best mark in the country.
Miami vs. Rutgers Betting Prediction
Defensively, both teams have been tough to break down, but with the total set this low, it's hard to back the under. Miami has a slight advantage here being at home, and with Rutgers' Paul Mulcahy, who has excelled defensively, questionable, it seems like Miami should have an easier time scoring the ball. Back the Hurricanes, behind a balanced scoring attack, to win and cover after a tight win on Sunday.
