On Friday afternoon, the Ottawa Senators (6-12-1) will travel to play the Anaheim Ducks (6-13-1). Given that these teams have entered the 2022–23 NHL season as the two lowest teams in the league with a combined 13 points, this game doesn't exactly have many playoff implications.
The Senators have lost three straight games, but Anaheim has some momentum after defeating the Rangers 3-2 on Tuesday and winning as underdogs.

Senators vs. Ducks Key Stats
Despite Cam Talbot's 1-5 record since making his season debut on November 3rd following an upper-body injury, Ottawa appears to have a strong goaltender tandem. Talbot does have a respectable 2.83 GAA, which ranks 25th in the NHL, but much of his dismal record may be attributed to Ottawa's lack of offensive production.
Ottawa's offense may not be as awful as one goal in each of their last three losses would suggest, which offers them some value in the game on Friday afternoon. While Ottawa is shooting 32.8 shots per game, ranking 9th in the NHL, and scoring 3.2 goals per game, they don't exactly have a winning record.
Although Anaheim outshot 43-22 in their 3-2 victory against the Rangers on Wednesday, they are still the same Anaheim squad that dropped their previous seven games, four of which have been at home.
The only edge Anaheim has going into the game on Friday afternoon is that John Gibson has started in goal for them seven out of the past eight times. Gibson saved 24 of 26 shots on goal from St. Louis before the Blues scored an empty-netter in Monday's 3-1 victory, stopping 41 of 43 shots from a strong Rangers offense on Tuesday. Gibson, however, is only 2-6 this month with a 3.80 GAA.
Senators vs. Ducks Betting Prediction
It's challenging to see an advantage on either side in a showdown between the two NHL franchises with the lowest points scored on the offensive end. Anaheim is playing at home, where they have a respectable 4-4-0 record this year, and Gibson has given them back-to-back strong performances in the net.
Ottawa has only scored in two of their eight away games this season, and their third straight game on the road is on Friday night, which is particularly difficult after a holiday. Anaheim is at home and should be able to cover the spread in a dull game.
Pick: Ducks +1.5 (-190)
