Baylor has won all three of their games so far, recently blowing out Northern Colorado, 95-62. Virginia is also undefeated, and while they've only played twice due to a canceled game, they're coming off an impressive 47-point win over Monmouth. Virginia Cavaliers vs. Baylor Bears Key Stats
Virginia has a very solid roster, and their backcourt is one of the better ones in the ACC. Senior point guard Kihei Clark is not a huge scorer, but he did finish at 10 PPG last year, the third-highest tally on the team to go along with 4.4 assists. He's leading the team currently with 12 total assists, and fellow guard Reece Beekman has dished out 11. While their numbers don't pop off the page, this Cavaliers squad is very deep, with frontcourt starters Armaan Franklin, Jayden Gardner, and Kadin Shedrick putting up solid all-around stats. Virginia's bench is excellent, and so far, we've seen eight players average around 20 minutes per game.
Baylor is led by senior guard Adam Flagler and freshman guard Keyonte George. These two combined average 33.3 points per game so far and 14.4 assists. Both are solid three-level scorers, and while their passing numbers likely won't remain this high, their playmaking ability puts a lot of pressure on opposing defenses. Jalen Bridges and LJ Cryer have chipped in scoring-wise as well, so look for these four to be featured heavily tonight.
Virginia Cavaliers vs. Baylor Bears Betting Prediction
In recent years, Virginia has been a great defensive team, and we've already seen their defensive identity shine through, most recently holding Monmouth to just 42 points on 16-for-41 from the field. While Monmouth isn't a quality opponent, the Cavaliers will look to slow down Baylor's high-powered offense enough to pull the upset. It won't be easy, though, since the Bears have scored an average of 99.7 points per game so far. Expect Baylor to keep rolling despite Virginia's solid defense, as the Bears' talented scorers should do enough to get them their fifth straight victory to open the year.
Prediction: Baylor -4.5 (-110)
