4 Positions Liverpool FC need to strengthen

The transfer window comes ever closer, and in light of Lucas Leiva and Steven Gerrard’s injury problems along with the potential suspensions which might come Suarez’s way, here are the positions where Liverpool FC need to strengthen come the January transfer window.

#4: A Left-back

A move purely for the future, with Fabio Aurelio and Jack Robinson being our only other recognized choices, with Aurelio himself expected to move on pretty soon given the lack of playing time. Jose Enrique is fine continuing on, him being arguably the best left-back in the Premier League.

With Aurelio perhaps not a reliable reinforcement to rely on, it might be sensible to strengthen our options for the leftback position. A player whom can hybrid between left midfielder and leftback won’t be that bad either, with Stewart Downing not hitting the heights that he hit at Aston Villa just yet.

#3: A Right Winger

If Andy Carroll is ever going to be a hit for Liverpool FC, he’s going to need some help from the wingers, and the truth is that we don’t have a good deliverer from the right wing. Dirk Kuyt, Maxi Rodriguez, Henderson or even Steven Gerrard aren’t natural right wingers (Rodriguez prefers to play as a ‘false number 9?) and we could certainly do with a better delivery source from the right.

All those players mentioned above are more accustomed to playing a more central role, and hence we need a winger that can provide us with more width and better deliveries.

#2: A Defensive Midfielder

A problem that Liverpool FC must address pretty quickly. Lucas Leiva’s injury is set to rule him out for the rest of the season, so we need someone to fix that gaping hole in the Liverpool FC midfield. Jay Spearing looks well equipped for the role, but we could do with a reinforcement/better short term replacement for Lucas.

I have already suggested Tottenham defensive midfielder Sandro just recently, with him having experienced a reasonable amount of Premier League gametime, along with him strong in the defensive midfielder role.

#1: A Striker

Arguably the role that needs most fixing at the moment. Luis Suarez looks set to receive a minimum of 3 games out with his racism row along with his finger pointing antics, whilst Andy Carroll is firing blanks at the moment, so it only sounds ideal for Liverpool FC to add to their strikeforce come the January transfer window.

A partner for Suarez up front won’t be that bad either.
