5 Indians who will in all probability will be competing in their last Olympics at Rio

We are just over 2 months away from the start of the 2016 Rio Olympics and India have covered almost all bases in all sports. Encouragingly, the contingent comprises of a combination of experience and youth and it wiull be interesting to see how some of the athletes mainrtain their composure in what is going to a tough two weeks in the Brazilian capital.

Here’s a look at 5 athletes who will be competing in their final Olympics:

1.Abhinav Bindra

In a chequered career that has lasted close to two decades, Abhinav Bindra now stands on the verge of competing in what will in all probability, will be his final Olympics in Rio De Janeiro in August.

The 33-year-old, who recently posted on Twitter as to how he couldn’t believe that he would be taking part in a 5th Olympics, will look to finish on a high in his final shot at yet another medal at the coveted event thereby add yet another feather to an already illustrious cap.

Along with competing in the range, The Dehradun-based shooter has also been appointed as one of the four Goodwill Ambassador for Rio 2016 and as he enters his final Olympics, he will certainly look to finish on a high.

2.Leander Paes

Each time he went down, 4 years later, he would rise again. That's how it's been with Leander Paes and the Olympics ever since he competed in his maiden Games in Barcelona in 1992. The 1996 Atlanta bronze medalist, now 43, will be heading to Rio De Janerio in a couple of months to compete in his 7th Summer Games and surely, his last.

Sometimes, the world ‘great’ is used quite loosely, but there is no need for any debate when it comes to using that word on Paes. For he will most certainly go down as one of the greatest sportspersons to have come out of India.

That discussion can come when he eventually calls it a day from the sport. Until done, however, there are bigger things to look forward to from him, as he looks to win a second Olympic medal, 20 years after his first, on the shores of Rio.

3.Manavjit Singh Sandhu

He didn't make the cut through the qualification rounds, but courtesy the NRAI naming him in place of Sanjeev Rajput for Rio 2016, Manavjit Singh Sandhu finds himself in the squad that will travel to Brazil in August.

The 39-year-old, who became India’s first Trap World champion in 2006, will be competing in his 4th Olympics, and will look to finally conquer the one medal that has eluded him so far and will hope to that medal to his cabinet.Sandhu will be part of a 12-member shooting contingent, which is the largest that India have sent in any Olympics.

4.Gagan Narang

Another shooter who is likely to compete in his final Olympics at Rio will be Gagan Narang. The 33-year-old, who won the bronze in the 10m Air Rifle at London Olympics in 2012, will look to clinch yet anopther medal at Rio 2016, thereby bring the curtain down on his Olympic career.

Narang clinched the Olympic quota with a bronze at the Fort BenningWorld Cup last year and will ceratinly be one of the big medal contenders as well as shooting is concerned, for India at Rio.

5.Yogeshwar Dutt

With just one boxrer havingqalified thus far, the pressure is now well and truly on the wrestlers to win medals at Rio and one man who will look to make it two-out-of-two will be Yogeshwar Dutt. The 32-year-old, who qualified at the Asian Olympic qualifier in March, will have a lot of expectations on his shoulders as he takes a relatively inexperienced Men’s wrestling contingent along with him to Rio and he will certainly look to finish off on a high with, hopefully the Gold medal.
