Ace Indian cueist Pankaj Advani defeated Rodney Goggins of Ireland by 7-4 in Damascus, Syria to enter the final of IBSF World Snooker Championship. Advani will be eyeing for his second Championship title when he meets Dechawat Poomajaeng of Thailand in the best-of-19 frames summit clash on Thursday.
Advani won the best-of- 13 frames semifinal by 53-41, 77-44, 48-90, 114-08, 52-44, 32-81, 19-61 60-18, 22-69, 89-01, 59-08. Previously, Advani had attained the top spot in the Group E by winning all the six matches. In the quarterfinal match, he has triumphed over Moh Keen Hoo of Malaysia by 6-1 in the best-of-11 frame contest. Poomajaeng vanquished the challenge of his compatriot Noppadol Sangnil to grab the finals spot. Poomajaeng beat Sangnil by7-4.
Hopes are high for the 25 year old Bangalorean as Advani had earlier won the billiards singles gold medal in Asian games last month.
However India’s hope in the women’s event Vidya Pillai lost to Ng On Yee by 25-64, 7-67, 19-59, 41-84 in the semifinals to be knocked out of the tournament.
