BCCI king Srinivasan and media in war

The spot fixing and betting scandal in Indian Premier League (IPL) has raged a war between Indian media and BCCI President N Srinivasan. The war has become bigger day by day. The BCCI President is being shown as a modern day Ravana by the media. The things have been going too far. The involvement of son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan in betting should not be blamed on helpless father-in-law. These days’ parents don’t know what their own children are doing? How can media expect Mr. Srinivasan know each whereabouts about his own son-in-law? He can’t be questioned on involvement of players in spot fixing. How he is going to clean the system? The media can surely question on him on those.

But now media has gone over the top war on Mr. Srinivasan and it looks more of personal vendetta. Media has gone one interesting news and they are after that like a starving lion behind a deer. But Mr. Srinivasan has been tough nut to crack and he has been giving left and right to media indirectly showing his authority and power in BCCI. He is challenging the media that they can’t do anything to him. But some of his reputation has been lost during this media war fare. But In India, people have short memory. Whereas Betting is concerned, I believe that it should be made legal in country. Gurunath looks to be story of rich brat getting into illegal activities for fun and getting caught. How is resignation of Srinivasan from BCCI help? It is better, he stay and clean the problems like Match fixing, Spot Fixing and Betting. He should be given fair chance on this.

The media has role to inform people but can’t dictate terms to society. They can tell us, what is right or wrong? But they shouldn’t force their opinions. Media is no judicial system and they should understand their limitations. They have information and they can share with people but they should stop doing cross examination. The media may do surveys with common man and get their opinion. But opinions from experts matter more. The media is no moral science teacher to society. Each individual has his own morality level and they make their own judgments. Mr. Srinivasan has all right to stay where he is. We should not compel him to step down from his position. The probe is being taken internally by BCCI and we should wait for that. Mr. Lalit Modi may talk anything from London. Then why is hiding in London and coming back to India. Media should stop the war with Mr. Srinivasan and BCCI should be given some time frame. Finally Cricket has to win.
