Blackpool beaten black-and-blue by the Blues 3-1

Chelsea‘s season has been unpredictable so far as a brilliant start went wasted with a devastating slump in form thanks to injuries and lack of proper cover for missing personnel. After the draw at Fulham, Chelsea were considered weak and their season deemed over. But when they defeated Manchester United, they got a sudden confidence boost. Then they travelled to Bloomfield Road where they encountered Ian Holloway’s Blackpool and defeated them with a 3-1 to turn the season around! This is how the match progressed.

Terry’s thundering tycoon

The first goal of the game was scored by John Terry at the 20th minute and this instantly gave the Blues a hope of victory. This is Terry’s 4th goal of this season.

Torres, is he really worth the 50 million pounds?

We got to witness another poor performance by Torres. At the 22nd minute, a really nice pass from Drogba released him on the left side of the area but he pulled wide instead of cutting inside and played an aimless cross into no-man’s land when the responsibility was on him to run it. At the 89th minute, Torres miscontrolled again followed by the home fans singing “We’re gonna win four three”. He has now gone five games without scoring!

Lampard, the pride of London!

On the 63rd minute, the great Frank Lampard scored a smashing goal, sending Kingson the wrong way and he has scored seven in 12 now. Immediately, after 2 minutes, at the 65th minute, the Blue Giants had 3 glorious goals in their account, 2 for Lampard, as the ball was sent clean through by an eccentric through ball by Kalou, followed by a neat low finish from Lamps.

Finally, GOAL BLACKPOOL

Jason Puncheon, being the best player of Blackpool, pleased his home fans with his only goal for the team at the 89th minute. It was definitely the best goal of the game as Beattie and Ormerod combined to play him in while the ball was kicked low across Cech into the bottom right.

Almost a second for Blackpool, Terry to save the day!

Matt Phillips crossed the ball and fellow substitute Brett Ormerod nearly scored, but unfortunately for the Tangerines, it took a great block from John Terry to prevent them from scoring again.

With Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, losing points over the weekend, it looks like Chelsea has a bright chance to take the trophy home this time. A few weeks ago Chelsea was being spat on – but everyone has dropped points, not least leaders Manchester United who have lost two on the bounce including one to the Blues themselves. Chelsea are now 9 points behind United. Lets hope the Blues bag the title this time!
