Can Tottenham avoid a Dark Knight (Batman) Ending ?

Ajay

Tottenham are presently half way through the Christopher Nolan classic. All the characters have played their part in the classic and are gaining good momentum. Harry Redknapp will now only have to tinker with the ending and hope it ends very differently from the original where the hero becomes the hunted.

The present side have their Harvey Dent in Gareth Bale. Mainly, they have a batman too. Only here, the Batman is a bit more popular. Luke Modric plays this role with great effect. People are under the impression that its Harvey Dent(Gareth Bale) who is the face of Gotham(Tottenham). This might be true, but its Batman(Luka Modric) who saves them at the end of the day by pulling the strings from behind. Just like in the movie, Modric is more than happy to allow Bale take the center stage in present form.

??????

And Bale has ?taken the footballing world by storm with his tantalizing and fabulous displays snce the end of last season. He has entered a zone of his own and is playing some truly marvelous football at the moment. He has been a constant thorn in the bush for all the full-backs and has been the real face of Tottenham this season. Teams are excessively concentrating on this young lad and marking him closely. Yet like Dent, he keeps finding solutions to the problems and fights it all successfully.

Amidst all this enigma and furore, people gently forget the silent killer – Luka Modric. Just like batman, he keeps pulling the strings from behind to see the overall smooth sailing of the ship. Like a captain, he guides it and unlike most, he pushes others ahead before himself. He is a guy just like Batman, who was at an all-time low and then rose from the ashes. From being a substitute in the Juande Ramos time to being the top dog under Redknapp, he has undergone quite a transformation. Tottenham have been an exciting club for awhile now and in recent times have grown to develop into a top side. They have entered the top league now, and are here to stay. This, however, can be misleading and may not paint the correct picture of the situation. And Redknapp knows this and will be avoiding a ‘Dark Knight’-like finish. His fears are beginning with many top European clubs vying for Gareth Bale. Redknapp knows that the loss of his Harvey Dent could prove costly and even lead to a decline of the club. Inspite of having the Batman, it is the face of Tottenham which he really needs to push for the growth of the club. It’s a tricky scenario for him who needs to handle all the joker(s) in this case and save both hi main men.

It is not a case of the protection of Dent and Batman, but rather the building of Gotham around them. Gareth Bale may not be the hero they deserve (atleast as yet), but he is the one they need to hold onto right now. Modric, on the other hand, is their hero who (arguably) needs less attention now. But he is the Dark Knight.

The second half of the movie is underway; the plot must differ (from the movie) in order to make this a real blockbuster and Redknapp knows this. As a fan, I am just curious to know how this will end. But like countless other fans, I will patiently wait on till the end without (without reading the ‘review’ beforehand). All I do know is that Tottenham Hotspurs will do all in their powers to prevent a Dark Knight ending.
