The Government of Goa has agreed to lease the Trinity ground, Benaulim for 33 years to I-league club Churchill Brothers for which the club has to pay an annual sum of Rs. 20,000. The holy ground at Benaulim is of 20,000 sq. feet.
The ground will be completely revamped to a new stadium with all hi-tech facilities. According to AIFF Vice President Joaquim Alemao, the club has already contacted a Delhi based firm for laying artificial turf.
According to Almeao, the ground will become the host of all their home I-league matches.
This is a major boost for the ever improving Goa based club. It is also good for Indian Football since it is undergoing a dramatic change in recent times which includes AFC licensing criteria, the introduction of AIFF XI.
