Colombian Mariana Pajon, considered to be the best female BMX cyclist in the world, has travelled to Brazil to begin her qualifying training ahead of the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games, media reported.

While visiting Rio, Pajon will participate in a technical test accompanied by her countrymen, BMX cyclists Carlos Ramirez and Carlos Mario Oquendo, as well as her coach German Medina, reports Xinhua.

This is the second time in recent months that Brazil's Olympic Committee and Brazil's Cycling Confederation have invited Pajon to supervise and test out the works on the Olympics BMX course.

Afterwards, Pajon will continue on to Argentina, where she will attend the Santiago del Estero Continental Championship beginning on 28 March. The Colombian cyclist, who recently won the BMX national championship, will also visit Europe to continue her pre-Olympic training.

She will participate in Manchester World Cup on 10 April and then will travel to Papendal, the Netherlands on 8 May. The defining moment for Pajon will be during the World Championship to be held in Medellin, Colombia, on 25 to 29 May, where she is expected to finalise her Rio qualification.
