Gold Coast heads to Day 2 of the games as most of the sports held on Day 1 head into their knockout stages and medal events. The second day of the games will host the same events as Day 1 and will feature many of the same athletes who managed to go further into the knockout rounds of their respective sports.
India faced a mixed bag of results on Day 1 with weightlifting bringing the most joy. Guru Raja won the first medal for India at the games when he claimed silver in his weight category. The headlines, however, were delivered by Manipur's Mirabai Chanu, who broke six games records on her way to the gold medal.
Elsewhere, India went out in the early stages of Cycling events. Squash gave mixed results too, with Vikram Malhotra, Dipika Pallikal, and Joshna Ponappa heading into Round-of-16.
Women's table tennis team won both their matches and will play in the quarterfinals on Day 2. The Men's team progressed as well and they will be playing in the Round-of-16 on the same day.
Going into Day 2, India will once again have strong representation in weightlifting and boxing. Three different weight categories will be in play on the second day and India will be hoping to repeat the results of Day 1.
In cycling, Deborah Herold and Aleena Reji get another shot at gold. Both of them are representing the nation in Individual Sprint. Other cycling events include Men's Keirin, Women's Individual Pursuit, and Men's Individual Pursuit.
Lawn balls will also have the same participation as yesterday with Pinki playing her Round 3 and 4 matches. India's pairs, triples, and fours teams will also be back.
Indian women's hockey team will face Malaysia on Day 2, hoping to put behind a disappointing loss to Wales on Day 1 of the games.
Note: The events of the day can be followed on Sony Six, Ten 1 and Ten 3 (Hindi commentary). Sony Liv will be streaming the events live. You can also follow live commentary on Sportskeeda.com.
