Sanjita Chanu now has the record in the snatch category

A gold medallist from the 48kg category at the 2014 Glasgow games, Sanjita Chanu continued her dominance in the Commonwealth Games with yet another gold medal victory from the 53kg category.

The 24-year-old Manipuri weightlifter lifted a total of 192 kg divided as 84kg in the snatch category and 108kg in the Clean & Jerk category to win the gold medal and finish with 10kg more than Papua New Guinea's silver medallist Lao Dika Toua

With her 84kg successful attempt in the snatch category, she broke the previous Commonwealth Games record of 83kg held by India's Swarti Singh from the 2014 Glasgow edition.
