David Villa isn’t having a good time at Barcelona, but will stay there, says Goal.com. The Spanish forward wanted to make a request to his club Barcelona to accelerate a move to the north London club Arsenal.

The Catalan club had decided not to offer him to any club on loan but a permanent switch would have been possible. Barca still owes Arsenal money from Song’s summer transfer. With the Spanish striker moving to the Gunners, the course of the Premier League could have changed. Barcelona still has a handful of players available for the winger slot in Alexis Sanchez, Pedro Rodriguez and Cristian Tello.

Barcelona and Arsenal have an old relationship. Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song moved to the Blaugranas from Arsenal.

El Guaje, who holds the record for the most goals scored for his national side, Spain, was concerned about his lack of games with Barcelona since his return from a long injury in the semi final of the FIFA Club World Cup against Al-Sadd, due to which he missed the Euro 2012 too. Speculations had arisen that Villa, 31, could change clubs.

According to The Daily Mirror, Arshavin has been linked with Reading, Djourou is wanted by Hannover, Squillaci is going on free transfer and Chamakh has already been loaned out to West Ham.

With Arsenal’s performance improving in every game because of a strong forward line of Walcott, Giroud, Podolski and Cazorla, the addition of Villa would’ve been a boon to the Gunners, who are currently on the sixth position. The skills learnt by him at Barcelona would be of great use for Arsenal. His strike power could take Arsenal to the Champions League spot.

Villa was bought from Valencia after Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s disappointing performances in 2009-10. He then showed his quality there, but it seemed to decrease in the coming seasons.

The Daily Mirror also tells us that Arsene Wenger is looking to bring in West Bromwich Albion defender Jonas Olsson and Atletico Madrid striker Adrian Lopez for £14 million. Well, he surely knows how to please his fans.
