Dinesh Nair- Only Indian Referee in Asian Games 2010

Indian referee, Dinesh Nair, who is from Gujrat is the only Indian Football referee to be a part of the 16th Asian Games Football which is being held at Guangzhou in China. He passed the fitness test on 6th November, 2010.

Dinesh Nair is a very known person in the Indian football. He can be seen officiating in most of the national level football tournaments in India which includes the i-League, Federation Cup, Durand Cup etc.

Dinesh Nair has also officiated two World Cup Qaulifier matches back in 2006. Nair also officiated AFC Cup and SAFF Cup 2009. Recently, Nair came into the limelight for criticizing Indian National Team’s Coach Bob Houghton for making racist comments in a friendly match at Pune. He was also blamed for his poor refereeing standards in the Fereration Cup finals.

Though Dinesh Nair is the only referee to be a part of the Asian Games, two other Indian referee’s are also a part of the games which includes Kalyani Chanu(Ex-International Women Footballer from Manipur) and K.Shankar from Tamilnadu(famous Indian Asst Referee who was also in 2002 Japan Korea FiFA World Cup).Kalyani Chanu is expected to arrive Beizing on 12th. Kalyani Chanu might act as Asst Referee whereas K.Shankar might be given the Referee Instructor’s role.
