Drog set to be unleashed!!
Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba will play today’s game against Protugal. Drogba had suffered an arm fracture during a practice game against Japan. He has recovered well from that and he will allowed to wear a special cast for the tournament. It was feared that he would miss the match.
While the coach of Ivory Coast Sven Goran Eriksson has revealed that he will talk to Drogba before ruling him in or out of the side.
Eriksson said: “I really don’t know if Drogba will play against Portugal or not.
“We’ll probably take the decision a couple of hours before the game.
“And I think the only one who can say yes or no on the day is the player himself.”
Drogba had been waiting for the decision from FIFA on whether he will be allowed to play agains Portugal or not. FIFA officials had a meeting with Portuguese delegation at the match co-ordination meeting and Portuguese delegation along with referee Jorge Larrionda has given special cast their OK.
FIFA spokesman Nicolas Maingot confirmed: “Referee Jorge Larrionda has okayed the cast which Drogba will use to play.
With this decision he will be allowed to wear special cast and will be free to take his place in the team.
