East Bengal and Mohun Bagan falters at fulfilling AFC Criteria

Both kolkata giants Mohun Bagan and East Bengal failed to live up to the AFC Club licensing Criteria while Chirag United were given the green signal by the six membered AFC team.

Why did the Kolkata giants failed?

Why did they fail??

Vijay Mallya owned UB Groups have major share at both the clubs which means both clubs share the same chairman which is not in accordance with the AFC rules.

Which are the clubs who got the green signal?

Apart from Chirag United, Churchill Brothers, Dempo, JCT, Mumbai FC and Pune FC got through the AFC Criteria.

Other clubs which failed to meet the AFC Criteria

Viva Kerala, Salgaocar, Air India, HAL and ONGC also failed to comply to the demand of the AFC Club Licensing Criteria.

Salgaocar and Viva Kerala failed because they failed to submit their audited profit and loss statements to the AFC team.

Because it is essential for the clubs to become a seperate entities, clubs like Air India, HAL and ONGC failed.

what will happen to the clubs which failed to comply to the AFC Criteria?

All the clubs will have to solve their problems as pointed out by the AFC team till the deadline which has been set on 31t December 2010. If the teams fail to meet the criteria after the second visit of the AFC team which is on January 2011, then the clubs will be axed from the very next season of the i-league.
