Egypt Open: Soumyajit, Poulami to spearhead Indian challenge

New Delhi - Soumyajit Ghosh and Poulami Ghatak will spearhead the Indian challenge in the Egypt Open table tennis championship being held at Cairo.

In the men’s section, Soumyajit will have for company Soumyadeep Roy, Jubin Kumar, Sanil Shetty, Harmeet Desai and G.Sathiyan.

Besides Poulami, K. Shamini, Ankita Das, Divya Deshpande, Mousumi Paul and Mamata Prabhu are the other Indians in the women’s section.

“This is one event where paddlers from both Europe and African and Asian nations will compete and will be a good experience for our paddlers,” said Dhanraj Choudhary, secretary-general of Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI).

The team is accompanied by coaches S. Raman and Vijayasarathi Seshadri, who is attached with the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
