There is a very big chance that this game might turn out to be a very defensive one. With a draw guaranteeing both teams spots in the round of 16, it is unlikely that either of the 2 coaches will take too many risks. However, there is a big incentive for Mexico to win the match against Urugay. With Argetina, in all likelihood, about to finish top of group B, nothing short of a victory for Mexico would let them avoid (probably) the team of the tournament and the best player in the world. For Uruguay, a draw would see them finish top of Group A.
“Mexico won’t play for a draw. I love winning and so do my team-mates because that’s our mentality. I’m not really interested in whether Uruguay, France or South Africa qualify. I want to win this game, no two ways about it,” Cuauhtemoc Blanco, Mexico forward.
Look out for :
Marquez Vs Forlan
Forlan was the Man of the match for the Uruguayans in both their matches while Marquez has been a pillar for Mexico at the back and also scored a the match-saving goal against South Africa to cancel out Tshabalala’s super-strike. Both are very experienced, talismanic figures for their countries, know about each other having played in La Liga for the last few years.
Chicharito
Which means little green-bean. Javier Hernandez, the latest Man United recruit scored the first against Les Bleus and will be hoping for his first start for Mexico. The 20- year old has pace to burn and a cool finish as we saw against France.
Giovanni Dos Santos
The Brazilian descent, Dos Santos, who was on loan to Galatasaray in Turkey, has found some much needed form in this world cup. The former Barca kid’s career was on a downward curve but he has hit form at just the right time. Though he has not scored any goal, his performances have been very impressive up-front for Mexico.
