The Indian Boxing Federation (IBF) is pleased to inform you that the Boxing Contingent for the Commonwealth Games 2010 is well settled at the Games Village and have started their practice sessions with full gusto. The Indian Boxing Contingent is extremely happy with the arrangements in the Games Village and are now totally committed to concentrate on the job at hand – ‘TO WIN AT THE CWG 2010’.
All the boxers and the support staff are fully geared to live up to the expectations of our countrymen although it will be no mean feat. The Competition is likely to be quite tough as most of the participating Countries would be fielding their boxers who are likely to be at the London Olympics 2012.
The Boxing Contingents participating in CWG 2010 are trickling in and they are getting used to the climate and weather conditions of India. The International Technical Officials (Jury Members) and the International Referees & Judges will be arriving on 30 Sep and 01 Oct. The Technical Meeting with Managers and Coaches of all participating Countries followed by Meeting with Referees & Judges will take place at Talkatora Stadium on 02 Oct from 1500 hrs onwards. The Medicals and General Weigh-in will take place at the Games Village on 04 October from 0800 hrs to 1000 hrs followed by the Draw of Bouts from 1030 hrs onwards. Boxing bouts of the XIX Commonwealth Games will commence at 1300 hrs on 05 Oct 2010 at the Talkatora Stadium. Boxing will be held in two sessions daily. The first session will commence at 1300 hrs and end at 1700 hrs. The second session will commence at 1830 hrs and end at 2230 hrs daily till the quarterfinals are over on 10 October 2010. The semifinals will be held on 11 October 2010 wherein the first session will commence at 1300 hrs while the second session will commence at 1730 hrs. 12th October will be a Rest Day for Boxing. The finals will be held on 13 October 2010 in two sessions. The first session will commence at 1300 hrs and the second session will commence at 1900 hrs.
