Till now 89 Indian players in five different sports have confirmed their berths for the Commonwealth Games 2014, which will be held in the beautiful city of Glasgow from July 23rd to August 3rd. CWG 2014, which is the 20th edition of the games, will see players from 71 countries battling it out with the best in the world.
The Indian team, which finished second by winning a whopping 101 medals including 38 golds and 27 silvers in the last edition of these games held in New Delhi in 2010, would be looking to repeat that historic feat once again or may be even go one better.
Here is a look at all the Indian athletes who have qualified for the games so far:
SHOOTING
The National Rifle Association of India has picked a 30-member Indian squad for the CWG 2014. Unfortunately, the two-time World Champion and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award winner Ronjan Singh Sodhi has not been included in the Indian team because of his poor form in the last few months.
The rifle/pistol team for the event was chosen in April whereas the shooters in the shotgun category were chosen on the basis of their scores in the selection trials held in May at the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Almaty.
In the last edition of the Commonwealth Games, Indian shooters won 14 gold, 11 silver and five bronze medals. Shooting alone contributed 30 out of the 101 medals won by the Indian team but this time the shooting medal events have dropped considerably from 44 in 2010 to just 19 in 2014.

BOXING
11 Indian boxers will feature in the 20th edition of the Commonwealth Games. This year, for the first time ever, women’s boxing has also been included in the Games. It will make its debut in three weight categories - 51kg, 60kg and 75kg.
Five-time world champion and 2012 Olympic bronze medallist M C Mary Kom failed to impress the selectors as she lost her final bout to Pinki Jangra, a youngster from Haryana, in the selection trials which were held in Patiala last month.
Eight male boxers have also made their way to the quadrennial event. Former Olympic and World Championships bronze medallist Vijender Singh has also been added in the team.
There are 10 weight categories in the men’s section but the Indian team has not fielded any competitor in two weight categories because as per the rules each country is allowed a maximum of 11 boxers. So the selectors decided to put women boxers in all three weight categories while leaving out 52kg and 60kg from the men's divisions.
In the 19th edition of these games Indian boxers won three gold and four bronze medals.

All the qualification marks are set by Athletics Federation of India and not by the CWG comittee.
As per the chief athletics coach Bahadur Singh, “the qualifying marks were only guidelines” and the selection committee would have the final say.
So in the coming days a number of other Indian athletes might make the cut for Commonwealth Games.
