INDIAN NETBALL TEAM
Netball is not one of the popular sports in India but slowly and steadily, Indian team is improving so that they can compete with the top teams of the world. Netball is basically a women’s game and as of 2006, the INF (governing body of Netball), recognizes only women’s netball. But from the last five or six years, men’s participation in the game has also increased. However, in India, it is only limited to women’s team.
Indian team with a total of 53 points are currently at the 30th position out of 35 teams in the latest INF world rankings. Although netball is not an Olympic Sport but it is played in the Commonwealth games and Asian Games. New Zealand team with a total of 4463 points are at the top spot followed by Australia, England and Jamaica.
INDIAN BADMINTON TEAM
In the individual rankings Indian Badminton star Saina Nehwal is at 4th position while Indian teenage Badminton sensation P.V Sindhu holds the 10th spot but taking into account the team rankings, the Indian Badminton team is currently at the 11th place with 6355 points.
China is at the top of the table with 17200 points and after China, comes Korea, Denmark,Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Germany, Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong. There are a total of 102 nations in the rankings.
INDIAN SEPAK-TAKRAW TEAM
Indian men’s Sepaktakraw team who created the history couple of days ago by winning the maiden Bronze medal in Sepaktakraw World Super Series held at New Delhi are currently ranked 9th in the latest ISTAF World rankings with a total of 605 points.
Indian team lost to World No.2 Malaysia in the Semifinals and as per the ISTAF (international federation) rules, the team who reaches the Semifinals also gets the Bronze medal. Thailand team is at the no. 1 spot with a total of 1500 points.
In women’s section Indian team are currently ranked 8th in the World with a total of 530 points. Thailand holds the top spot with 1500 points.
