IOA refuses to provide kits for Asian Games Squad

IOA’s (The Indian Olympic Association) sudden refusal to provide official kits to the Asian Games squad has kept the All India Football Federation(AIFF) left stranded.

The decision came as a shock to the federation after IOA had earlier asked the sizes for each and every player. So, the AIFF thought that the kits will be delivered to the squad at an appropriate time in China before their qualification campaign gets underway. The board is in no position to make the kits here and send them to the squad.

The IOA has also quoted to all the respective sports federations to make the kit done for which all the federations have been promised a sum of Rs. 3,500 for each sportsperson and officials for the games for making the kits. The decision came late to the board after the team was sent to China last week and they are in no position to play their next match which is against Kuwait on 7th November.
The AIFF’s usual kits for players and officials contains a logo of their sponsors which is against the rule of the Games. This means that the board will have to order the kits at China which will cost the board much more than the IOA has provided due to Foreign Exchange.
