London, Dec 2 (IANS)

The International Olympic Committe (IOC) president Thomas Bach said the 2022 FIFA World Cup and Winter Olympic Games won't clash.

Bach said he hopes FIFA will keep its pledge to prevent the 2022 World Cup from clashing with that year's Winter Olympics though the sport's governing body is considering whether to move the tournament to January-February to avoid Qatar's summer heat, reports Xinhua.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has assured the IOC that the two events won't clash.

"I have no reason not to believe (him). He made it very clear that a clash of these two great events is in nobody's interest," Bach said Monday.

The 2022 Winter Olympics are expected to be held in February either in Beijing or Almaty, Kazakhstan.
