Liverpool have officially completed the signing of Wycombe Wanderers wonderkid Jordan Ibe as the League One side released an official statement. Ibe has been tracked by the Merseysiders for quite some time now, and after reports over a potential move emerged last week, Wycombe have officially confirmed the deal on their website.
Ibe broke into the Wycombe set-up this season, making 11 appearances so far while also becoming the youngest player in their history. Although manager Gary Waddock was keen on keeping hold of the teenage prodigy, he admitted that it would be unfair to deprive him of such a fantastic opportunity.
“It’s a fantastic move for him,” Waddock told Wycombe‘s official website. “He’s a phenomenal talent which is why we gave him a chance to show what he can do at first-team level.
“Obviously we wanted to keep him, but we didn’t want to stand in the way of an opportunity he deserves. I have no doubt in my mind that he will go on to become a big star and I will be keeping a close eye on his progress.
“I would like to wish him and his family all the best for the future.”
Ibe was also subjected to interest from the likes of Manchester United and Fulham, but it now appears that Dalglish has acted quickly to secure the signature of Ibe for an estimated amount of £750,000.
