The London 2012 Olympic Games have come to a close and the closing ceremony is about to begin at 1:30 am IST, 13th August. The Games looked a mere battle between the two largest economies of the word, the USA and China. The two continuously dethroned each other from the top of the table, but during the closing few days USA had taken a clear decisive lead and today the Superpower has once again proved its supremacy even in the sporting arena.
Meanwhile, with Sushil Kumar bagging a silver medal hours before the close of the games, one can clearly say that Indian performance at the Olympics has improved, doubling the number of medals they had got the previous time, however most of them remain of the same colour(bronze) and without any gold. No gold medal in the kitty has brought us down to 55th positon from 50th position last time. Here’s a look at the official final medal tally:
