Toronto, July 12 (IANS) More than half of the sports facilities that will be used to host events during the 2016 in Rio Oympics are now ready, the president of the company in charge of preparing the facilities has said.
The president of the Municipal Olympic Company also said here on Saturday that the infrastructure projects are being prepared under the allocated budget and on time, reports Efe.
"All of the works are on time, in keeping with the schedule and within the projected budget," Joaquim Monteiro said at a press conference in Toronto, where the 2015 Pan American Games were inaugurated on Friday, reports Efe.
"More than half of the Olympic facilities are ready 391 days ahead of the start of the 2016 Games, 55 percent to be specific," Monteiro said in a presentation to the international media.
The city is using "a lot of already existing infrastructure" and simply adapting it to Olympic specifications in terms of aspects such as accessibility and lighting.
