Raipur to host All India Forest Sports Meet 2024 from October 16 to 20

The All India Forest Sports Meet 2024 is slated to take place from October 16 to 20 in Raipur, Chattisgarh. Teams from several states nationwide will compete in the tournament later this month.

The competition will see the forest department athletes compete in over 20 different sports. The multiple disciplines include athletics, badminton, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, football, cricket, tennis, and hockey.

Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker will grace the closing ceremony of the 27th edition of the All India Forest Sports Meet.

The state-level teams were selected through a competition from August 29 to 31, which served as a selection process for the All India Forest Sports Meet 2024.

The selection competition for Chattisgarh was held at the Kota Stadium in Raipur in late August. It was inaugurated by V. Srinivas Rao, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and the Chief of Forest Force in Chattisgarh.

A march past was held at the inauguration ceremony with players from Bilaspur, Kanker, Durg, Surguja, Jagdalpur, and other forest areas from Raipur performing on August 29.

Following the selection competition, the Chattisgarh Forest Department Team have identified over 350 athletes to represent the state in the upcoming All India Forest Sports Meet 2024.


Chattisgarh Forest Department Team likely to top the medal tally

The Chattisgarh Forest Department Team will head into the upcoming edition as favorites, having won last year's edition in Panchkula, Haryana. They finished the tournament with over 100 medals, including 67 gold medals.

With the likes of track athlete Charulata Gajpal, weightlifter Teja Sahu, and swimmer Maniram Adile on their side, the Chattisgarh Forest Department Team are strong contenders to top the medal tally and bring the trophy to their state.

All three athletes have a proven track record and have consistently won gold medals for the Chattisgarh Forest Department Team over the last few years.

The defending champions will also receive an additional morale boost as hosts for the All India Forest Sports Meet 2024.
