Players Whom Will Help Liverpool FC’s Push For Fourth Place: Lukas Podolski

It’s a beautiful Christmas day today and I’m continuing on with my “Players Liverpool FC Should Buy” series, and today I have selected German International Lukas Podolski.

2. Lukas Podolski (FC Koln)

In my opinion, the perfect man to fill the void that will be left by Luis Suarez should he miss out on games through his 8 game suspension or his other controversial incident, this being his finger pointing antics against Fulham just a few weeks ago. Podolski should also be able to pair up well up front alongside Suarez, with the potential of playing a Suarez-Carroll-Podolski attacking formation being an added alternative.

Podolski’s season so far has been rather fruitful, with him managing a mighty 14 goals from just 15 Bundesliga appearances this term. A mighty signing if it happens.

Strengths

Podolski is a very polished striker, him having fantastic shooting ability, both inside and outside the penalty box along with great ability at holding up the ball and getting teammates ahead of him. Not to mention his ability from the dead ball, which is truly immense, as he makes up for his poor heading ability with fantastic deliveries from the set pieces.

Did I mention the fact that he would probably come quite cheap?

Weaknesses

Like Javier Hernandez, Podolski lacks in defensive contribution along with the ability to spot the passes that split opponent’s defences apart. Likes to start out wide and cut into the inside, hence being slightly predictable, but otherwise a very strong player.
