Brussels, June 11 (IANS) Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has told British Prime Minister David Cameron that the Rio 2016 Olympics will be better than the 2012 Games in London.
The leaders held talks on the sidelines of the EU-CELAC summit for European, Latin American and Caribbean nations in Brussels on Wednesday, Xinhua news agency reported.
"I want to show my appreciation for the cooperation that we have had in regards to the Olympic Games," Rousseff was quoted telling Cameron by the Globo newspaper.
"Your (2012 Games) were very successful. Brazil is quite ahead of time and we aim to put on a monumental party. Let me say that our aim, like all Olympic hosts, is to do it even better," the Brazilian president said.
The Rio Games, to be held from August 5 to 21 next year, will be the first Olympics in South America.
