Many success stories have been carved out in different nooks and corners of the country moved by shear dedications and commitments. In the same span , a sports enthusiast named Bacchram, an inhabitant of Dwarka near Delhi Gurgaon has traveled all the way from Delhi to the tiny hamlet of Ranikor in far east Meghalaya to train the rural youths of ranikor in football .
Nestled in the pristine beauty of nature and hills, Ranikor a tiny hamlet 45 kilometers away from Meghalaya capital Shillong has become the adopted home for Bacchram: a former national football referee and coach. Fascinated by the charm and the charisma and aided by the inner urge to tap and provide exposure to the local football talents of the area he decided to train the young boys of the area and hone their skills. Bacchram, a former national referee and football coach of Delhi is optimistic that if proper training and platform is provided to these youths then they can excel in the national football arena as they have the natural built.
He lamented that though India has tremendous potential in football yet it is relegating at the bottom of the FIFA ranking. He argued that the youths of North-East can make a difference on proper exposure and training. He has ignited the zeal and the enthusiasm of the youths and who knows from one among these young and budding players another Baichung Bhutia and Lalampuia may emerge.
Though the people of the region understand football better than any other language yet the sad part is that no players of north east have sustained at the national level . Currently many Manipuri players are playing for national football clubs like Rennedy Singh , lalampuia and Sunil Chettri . Efforts of Bacchram to tap the skills of the rural youths is definitely is a stepping stone to produce more Baichung Bhutias and Rennedy Singhs
In a more organized way ,at a little distant away in Assam aspirants from the tea community are being trained at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) complex in Guwahati, the capital city of Assam .The month long state-level camp is estimated at a cost of Rs 55-lakh. This is the first-of-its-kind initiative by the Assam government where the aspiring Youths will be trained during the project in Archery .The project and is aimed at tapping sports as a tool for empowering the youth of the community, most members also to help them economically . SAI has already trained 30-40in different centers and have produced players like Rumila Kal of Sarupathar who has gone to represent India in under-19 football.
These kinds of government and personal efforts to train youths of the region will go a long way in developing the sporting scenario in the country.
