Sangram – The IIT Roorkee sports carnival festival kicks off

Sangram, a three-day sports carnival hosted by IIT Roorkee, is underway witnessing profuse and enthusiastic participation from the best institutes of the nation. The level of toil, preparations and perseverance that goes into it inevitably makes it the most awaited event among all the participating institutes. Driven by vigour, zeal and resolve, day 1 was marked by determination and sportsmanship spirit from every participating contingent.

The opening ceremony was graced by Vinod Kumar, Deputy Director, IIT Roorkee and Prof. D.K. Nauriyal, Dean of Students' Welfare, IIT Roorkee accompanied by Dr. Pravindra Kumar, Chief Sports Advisor and Dr. Ramesh Chandra, Chairman of Sangram '15. The Guest of Honour whilst officially declaring the fest open, bolstered the motivation of the participants with his encouraging words.

The Torch was lit by the Deputy General Secretary (sports), Arjun Malik and the torch-bearers – Varoon Shenoy, Nidhi Kumari, Rahul Adhikary, Vivek Shakya, Gagandeep Singh – all accomplished athletes of IITR, completed the inaugural run around the LBS stadium. The sports events kicked-off thereafter producing exhilarating, nail-biting and even shocking results at times.
