Second Day of the Acres Mumbai Inter-School Sports Invitational 2014

Today 18^th January was the second day of The Acres Mumbai Inter-School Sports Invitational 2014. From the early morning, kids started to land up at Acres Lifestyle Club as they wanted to register themselves as soon as possible. Their excitement, passion to play was on their faces and one could easily determine their sports spirit and desire to play.

In the event, over 1500 students from 60 top schools of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane are participating in 9 different sports disciplines of Swimming, Tennis, Table Tennis, Squash, Billiards, Ten Pin Bowling, Carrom, Chess and Basketball. This event is possible due to the largesse and support provided by FundsIndia.com and The Acres Lifestyle Club.

Today, Chess, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis and Basketball kept the excitement of the kids high. 38 Basketball teams competed against each other. Tejal Jayant Kamble from Father Agnels School won the U-12 Table Tennis girls category. In the U-15 girls, Paridhi Sapre from Ryan International School, Sanpada won the Bronze medal. The finals will be held tomorrow between Abhirami Panicker and Disha Hulawle, both from Father Agnel School.

In Chess U-8, U-10, U-12 and U-15 Boys category, Jinay gala, Sahil Gothi, Muktesh Raghav and Nemish Sundar won the gold medal respectively. In Chess U-8, U-10, U-12 and U-15 Girls category, Shriya Khivasara, Ritika Sheth, Sanika Oke and Anupriya Seksariya won the gold medal respectively.

These school children compete across four age categories, with the oldest being Under 15. Each medal win brings points to the School with Gold contributing 15 points, Silver giving 10 and Bronze adding 5 points. The School with the highest points is adjudged the winning school of the year.

Ryan International School has dominated this competition since its inception and it remains to be seen if they do so this year as well. The other prominent schools in the fray include Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Bombay Scottish, Campion, St. Gregorious, Podar International, St. Xavier’s and St. Stanislaus among many others.

This year this event will also see schools children competing with each other to win the title of the Inter-School Sony Playstation Champion. The PS4, the newest gaming console in the country, will be part of the Event experience for the competing school children. Over the past 3 years, this Event has given out nearly 1000 medals and certificates and hosted over 3500 school children.
