Can you imagine, Sportsmen have to sell their property in order to participate in Nationals. Yes this is the ugly face of Indian sports. Eight archers from Naswadi, Gujarat, were the unlucky sportmen who were borrowing money on interest just to be able to play.
At this juncture when whole country is enjoying cash rich IPL where money flow like anything. Take a catch win 1 Lakh, corers of money spent to buy the teams millions of missing dollars. But on the other hand no money or sponsors for all eight archers.
All 8 archers want to book air ticket to Guwahati to participate in the National archery championships scheduled from April 23. They were informed only 45 days in advance by authorities and they did not get confirm tickets in train. All eight of them are below the poverty line. Even railway minister of Assam did not come forward to give any helping hand. All 8 archer just want to participate in nationals for regional pride and want to make into Indians Team for CWG. But their determination and zeal to play did not suffer any and they sold their ancestral property or borrow money and finally catch flight from Ahmadabad.Wish all this brave heart very good luck for Nationals.
