Should Liverpool welcome Torres back?

If rumours are to be believed, it seems as though Fernando Torres might just move back to Liverpool FC in January, just 12 months after his blockbuster 50 million pound move to London outfit Chelsea FC.

It seems as though Russian billionaire and Andre Villas-Boas are prepared to let go of the Spanish striker, at a relatively hefty price of 20 million pounds for a striker who has only managed a total of 5 goals and 6 assists in an entire calendar year, but Man City, Liverpool FC, Arsenal FC and Barcelona are reportedly happy to take the Spaniard away from his nightmare spell in London.

Let me get one thing clear. I didn’t like the manner of which Fernando Torres left the club. His lack of loyalty somewhat offends me. Moreover, him coming out and saying that he moved to Chelsea FC because they were a ‘bigger club’ was to be the last straw for me.Would Liverpool FC Players Accept Him Back? That’s what I thought of him as a person. But as a player, I have maintained utmost respect in him, in his ability, his ability to change a game instantly and simply for being such a live wire. I personally still think that he’s still a top class striker, with him only lacking confidence and match sharpness.

So, would I like for ‘El Nino’ to return to the club? The prospect of a Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres does indeed sound ravishing, although it certainly won’t tingle your taste buds as much as it did in January last year, with Fernando Torres’ performances having gone downhill.

But maybe it’s just the wrong way in which he’s being played at Chelsea, along with the burden of that heavy 50 million pound price tag, he might just do well if he comes back to Liverpool FC. Moreover, I’m pretty sure that he would be more adapted to the Liverpool FC playing style on return more than he ever was at Chelsea.

It could just be a match made in heaven. Liverpool FC have the ability to make the chances, but they simply lack the ‘fox in the box’ striker who sticks the ball into the back of the net, such examples being Torres and more obviously Javier Hernandez, so this might just be a good move for the Reds.

But realistically, you must consider a lot of things. Torres is a shadow of his former self (or maybe not even a shadow, a whole different player), and he’s lost a lot of his electrifying pace and confidence on the ball. That 20 million pound price tag put on his head is also another big drawback.

My Verdict: If we can get him for a deal worth roughly around 16 million pound to 20 million pounds, I would most certainly want it to happen. If Chelsea FC want anything more for the Spaniard, I wouldn’t personally want Liverpool FC to go for him. He’s still a top class player, and he could be the player that Liverpool need to partner Luis Suarez up front (or even cover for his injuries/suspension problems).
