Sir Alex Ferguson is Balotelli's only chance at redemption

Balotelli needs to redeem himself of the guilt that he has faced at Man City. And there is just one place and one man that can help him do it. It would have been different for Mario Balotelli, had Sir Alex signed him from Inter Milan.

It is common knowledge that Mario Balotelli, as a person is tremendously disliked in the footballing circuit. But it is also a fact, that we have to begrudgingly admit, that the lad is hugely talented. And it is a real shame to see such talent go to waste at Etihad. At times even his staunch supporters, like Mancini, have become exasperated, due to the antics of the player.

We clearly have a lad who is of world class talent, but then why is this talent still not recognised the way Ronaldo‘s and Messi’s is? It’s because he has not played the number of games that his talent deserves. And that is because his attitude and antics are clearly over shadowing that talent.

While Mancini has been a mentor to Balotelli for years, yet Mancini does not posses the firmness that Sir Alex has. Sir Alex’s policy remains that no player, no matter how big their stature is, is above the club. In hindsight, his policy reads: “You play by my rules or you don’t play for me.”

Earlier this season, late night partying after the club’s curfew hours has landed Rooney, who was in stunning form, on the bench for Man Utd’s next game. That show how Sir Alex strictly deals with indiscipline.

Mancini’s weakness was seen at it’s peak when no action was taken against Balotelli for his on field squabble with his team mates. Instead he was rewarded with a start in the next match. This kind of inaction, further blows air into the already inflated ego that Mario Balotelli possesses and this is what will lead to his destruction.

United faithfuls have seen players like Balotelli play for United. The best example is United legend, Eric Cantona. Before coming to United, Cantona was known as a wild beast for his antics on and off the field. Sir Alex was criticized for purchasing the services of such a disruptive player. But once he was at United there was a clear transition and Cantona learned to channel his aggression in the right direction. Yes he did make an odd strong tackle that resulted in cards, but you can hardly blame anyone but the player for it.

Talking about the ability that the player posses, it is of no doubt to anyone who has followed this lad’s progress that he is an thunderous talent. He has everything that is needed for a complete striker. He has pace, he is a good striker of the ball, he has a good reading of the game, and most importantly when he is in the mood, he is also a great provider inside the box. To top it all off, he has great physical strength. Despite his heavy build, he posses a brilliant speed.

There is no doubt Balotelli needs a change in his attitude. And if this happens, the world will watch in awe as a great talent finally proves his worth. It’s his only shot at redemption and it can happen. There is no doubt that Sir Alex can do it because he has done it numerous times before. But the only question that remains is, will it ever happen? For footballing world it will be great to see a player like Balotelli redeemed. After all it does give us immense pleasure to watch Ronaldo and Messi showcase their talent to the world. But if it doesn’t, which is more probable, then the football world looks to be losing out on a huge talent but the only person at fault here is Mario Balotelli himself.
