Game Week #25

Here are our predictions, what are yours? (all timings in IST )

Man UtdMan UtdvLiverpoolLiverpool

Prediction: 3 – 1 (11 Feb, 1815 hrs)

The big match of the weekend, Saturday afternoon at Old Trafford, this match will largely be over shadowed by Suarez and Evra row. Suarez will have to be prepared for an utterly hostile reception by the crowd. Apart from this it will also be a very interesting football match, an extremely important fixture for both teams. Who Kenny Dalglish chooses to start from Carroll, Suarez and Bellamy will be of particular interest. Referee Phil Dowd will have to be at his very best, though I expect United to get all three points.

BlackburnBlackburnvQPRQPR

Prediction: 2 – 2 (11 Feb, 2030 hrs)

I love relegation battles, as I have made it clear many times in the past. This weekend has three relegation battle six pointers. This being the first. Blackburn were demolished by the Gunners last week, and are expected to do better this time around. Hughes returns to the club where he did a pretty decent job, I expect Samba to play this time around, and it will be a very interesting battle between him and Zamora. Will be a tight match, and a draw looks pretty much possible.

BoltonBoltonvWiganWigan

Prediction: 2 – 1 (11 Feb, 2030 hrs)

The second of our relegation battles, and both these teams have a much high probability of getting relegated. The Latics especially are doing pretty poorly, and at the current rate they will have 26 points at the end of the season, we all know what that means. The Trotters aren’t doing much better. But I think Coyle will manage a narrow win here. However, predicting in these matches is a very difficult thing.

EvertonEvertonvChelsea9Chelsea

Prediction: 1- 1 (11 Feb, 2030 hrs)

Everton managed to beat City a fortnight ago, I think they will manage a point against the Blues as well. Chelsea squandered a three goal lead against United, but this will be a different game altogether. Chelsea will be attacking relentlessly and may have majority of the possession, but Moyes’s men may just snatch a point here.

FulhamFulhamvStoke CityStoke City

Prediction: 2 – 1 (11Feb, 2030 hrs)

While Stoke are comfortable at 12th, their form since Christmas has been very disappointing. They seemed to be aiming for 8th, and probably more, but have managed only one win since then. Fulham aren’t doing a good job, and with Zamora gone, Jol will have to manage with the squad he has on hand. I think they will manage to beat Stoke at the Cottage.

SunderlandSunderlandvArsenalArsenal

Prediction: 1 – 2 (11 Feb, 2030 hrs)

As mentioned, Sunderland are on top of the form table, and these teams will meet at the same venue twice in eight days. The result of these two matches will go a long way in deciding Arsenal’s season. Sunderland will be tired after their extra time win against Boro, and with Sessegnon injured, I see Arsenal nicking this one.

SwanseaSwanseavNorwichNorwich

Prediction: 2 – 1 (11 Feb, 2030 hrs)

The pick of the matches for me this weekend. Both these teams, led by two of my favorite managers, are playing beautiful football. A neutral’s delight. I am going for a narrow victory for the home team from Wales.

TottenhamTottenhamvNewcastleNewcastle

Prediction: 3 – 1 (11 Feb, 2300 hrs)

Spurs managed a point at Anfield, and got what exactly they were looking for. This will be a different match all together, with Spurs looking good for a comfortable win against the Magpies, though Demba Ba and Demba Cisse will disagree with me. The focus of this match will solely be on Redknapp, after being acquitted in the tax evasion case, and now a prime candidate for the England manager’s job.

WolvesWolvesvWest BromWest Brom

Prediction: 1 – 1 (12 Feb, 19oo hrs)

The third of the lovely relegation six pointers, and by far the toughest to predict. While Hodgson’s boys look slightly better, this match is at the Moulinex, and Wolves will not give up easily. While I am eagerly looking forward to this match, I have no idea how this will end, hence safely going for a draw.

Aston VillaAston VillavMan CityMan City

Prediction: 1 – 2 (12 Feb, 2130 hrs)

City is going through a slight slump of form in away matches, and they will still be without Yaya Toure for this one. Alex McLeish will set up a very defensive formation, and it is certainly not going to be easy for the Blue half of Manchester to break it. Though I expect Aguero and the others to narrowly win this one, and keep the pressure on United.
