It’s that time of the week again when you can pitch your predictions for the upcoming game week, calculate your score and compare yours against ours. The rules, as always, remain the same, +3 for a correct score, + 1 for a correct result, 0 for a wrong result.
Last week we managed 4 correct results, with two perfect scores, hence a total of a respectable 8 points.
Last week’s original predictions can be read here.

Here are our predictions, what are yours? (all timings in IST )
Prediction : 3 – 1 (10 Dec, 2030 hrs)
This match will be over shadowed by Arsenal’s 125th anniversary celebrations, that will start before the match. Statues of three Arsenal legends, Herbert Champan, Tony Adams and Thierry Henry will be unveiled. On such a glorious occasion, Arsenal should definitely win their match against a faltering Everton team.
Prediction : 1 – 1 (10 Dec, 2030 hrs)
Both the teams are performing way below expectations, and both the managers know their job is in trouble. Nice to see Owen Coyle giving McLeish a vote of confidence yesterday. If offered a point apiece before the match, I have a feeling that both the managers will happily take it.
Liverpool | v | QPR |
Prediction : 2 – 1 (10 Dec, 2030 hrs)
At the time of writing this article it is not known whether Suarez will be eligible to play in this match or not, after the FA have launched an investigation regarding the finger probe incident against the Fulham fans on Monday night. QPR were very unlucky to get only 1 point last week. In Suarez’s absence, this could be an interesting match, but I don’t see Liverpool dropping points here.
Prediction : 2 – 1 (10 Dec, 2030 hrs)
The last fortnight has been the toughest for United in a very long time. Exit from the Carling Cup and the Champion’s League, along with the embarrassment of playing in the Europa League has taken United to a new low. A lot of debate will go into, who they need to buy in January, either ways, Wolves at home is just the kind of match they need. I am not sure if Wolves will suffer a “backlash”, but certainly United should manage all 3 points here.
Prediction : 1 – 1 (10 Dec, 2030 hrs)
It may seem like Newcastle’s honeymoon is finally over. With all the injuries they have suffered now, their lack of squad depth may finally be exposed. With injuries to key players, how the Magpies will fare till January would be very interesting. This match should be very interesting, with the Canaries standing a good chance of winning it, but to be safe I will predict a draw.
Prediction : 1 – 1 (10 Dec, 2030 hrs)
Fulham notched up an impressive, if slightly lucky win against Liverpool on Monday night. However they aren’t in the best of forms at present, and Swansea have surprised every one. Could be an interesting match, but might end in a stalemate.
Prediction : 2 – 1 (10 Dec, 2030 hrs)
Wigan were absolutely thrashed by Arsenal last week, and they just aren’t scoring enough goals at the moment. Martinez has to come up with new ideas to get his team anywhere above the bottom three. A point here would do Wigan good, but Hodgson’s boys might just not give them what they need.
Prediction : 2 – 2 (11 Dec, 1800 hrs)
This is the match I am most looking forward to this GW. Yakubu scored 4 goals last week, and is single handedly making a sensational effort to help Kean save his job. Also this is Martin o’ Neil’s first match as manager of Sunderland. I have really missed this man in the EPL, and will be a pleasure to have him back, I am predicting an exciting draw.
Prediction : 1 – 2 (11 Dec, 2130 hrs)
Arguably this is Spurs’s toughest match in 6 weeks. They have been steamrolling opponents for a while, and this match will be a true test of their capabilities. If they manage an easy win at the Britannia, then their title credentials will be taken seriously by one and all.
Chelsea | v | Man City |
Prediction : 1 – 2 (13 Dec, 0130 hrs)
The big match this week is something I view as the battle of the managers. AVB gave a pretty damning press conference after their win over Valencia. He totally lambasted the press, but might have been slightly premature in his comments. While he has shown tactical flexibility by getting rid of his high defense line in the past 2 matches, he still isn’t sure of a starting eleven.
Mancini may have exited the CL, but now it is even more obvious that the PL is their top priority. Anything less than a draw could backfire for AVB, but I think City should be able to just win this one.
P. S. This week also has the El Clasico, so I am assuming the EPL will take a back seat! Enjoy.
