Hello everyone.
I noticed just last night that the Quiz link here in Sportskeeda had not been updated since November last year!
And so here I am, with a new quiz. Starting today, I will be posting 5 questions each week (along with the answers to the questions of the previous week). So keep checking this space for a new set of questions every week. Bouquets and brickbats are always welcome. Do feel free to send in your comments and don’t forget to let me know if you want me to include anything specific.
With the IPL gaining momentum, and with most of us still struggling to get over our World Cup hangover, I decided to make this first quiz an All-Cricket affair. Here are 5 questions on cricket. Do give them a try and send in your replies. But before you do that, please raise your hand and take the following oath:
“I swear that I will answer the questions below by using my memory and my knowledge alone. I will not use google or any other aid to assist me“. Good Luck :)
SportsKeeda Weekly Quiz 1.
Q 1) Easy one to start.
He made his ODI debut in the 1980 Australia tour and played 6 games. He played his first test in 1980-81, against New Zealand, in which he opened the bowling with Kapil Dev. He took the wicket of John Wright with a bouncer, but was then concussed when, while fielding at fine leg, he missed an aerial ball that hit him in the eye. He did not bowl in the second inning, although he still batted at No. 11. But he never played international cricket again.
After his retirement from cricket he became an actor, appearing primarily in Punjabi films and has appeared in about 150 films till date.
In 2004 he was sentenced to six months in jail for ‘negligent and rash driving’ in connection with an accident that took place in Chandigarh in 2000.
He was also an accused in the Jessica Lal murder case. We however, know him better as the father of his very popular cricket playing son. Identify.
Q 2) This current international cricketer, and also an active player in IPL this season, was run out for 99 on his ODI debut. He is also the only cricketer in history to have scored ODI centuries for two different nations. Identify.
Q 3) The first visual, and it’s a Connect question! Take a look at the picture below and tell me what these four gentlemen have in common. To make matters a little easier, I will tell you that the only black-n-white photo is that of the former England great Sir Len Hutton. The other three, I believe, are fairly easily identifiable!
Q 4) A visual again, and an absolute sitter. The person in the photo started playing cricket in 1943. He played his only first class match in the Moin-ud-Dowla tournament in 1963-64, when he represented All India State Bank against Hyderabad. However, in spite of his modest playing career, he was later made a selector for the Mumbai Ranji team. And in 1990, he was honored with the Dronacharya award by the Government of India. Identify.
Q 5) Yet another visual. Identify the gentleman is NOT what I am asking you to do :) The person in the photo is definitely Mohd. Yousuf. The question is, why is he wearing a pink cap instead of the regular green that we associate with the Pakistan team?
Answers next week, along with Quiz 2 which I promise will be a Mixed-Bag.
Send the answers to Quiz @ Sportskeeda .com who got how many correct would be announced next week.
