Danny Graham scored with four minutes remaining to seal the three points for Swansea and pile misery onto Liverpool who will need to improve for next season.
Graham, signed from Watford in the summer, netted with four minutes to go to seal another Liberty Stadium win over one of the ‘elite’ clubs.
The Swans played with confidence, and it was never more evident than in the first period – with on-loan midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson twice going close with Alexander Doni, filling in for the ill Pepe Reina, having to keep his eyes peeled.
The visitors, however, picked up some momentum in the second half with Andy Carroll seeing his overhead kick saved by Michel Vorm.
Swansea, as usual, retained possession well and exploited the space that the Reds allowed them to – eventually they got the goal they wanted with Graham converting from close range for his 14th goal of the season.
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish said after the match: “If there was going to be a goal I thought it was going to be us who scored it. There was never going to be much in it. Unfortunately for us they got it.”
