2) KKR clinch first away win against Warriors

The Kolkata Knight Riders romped home to their first away win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) beating the Pune Warriors by 46 runs at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium here Thursday.

3) Rajasthan Royals beat Kings XI by eight wickets

Rajasthan Royal beat Kings XI Punjab by eight wickets in their Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here Thursday.

4) Federer ousted by Nishikori in Madrid, Nadal, Murray through

Defending champion Roger Federer was dumped out of the Madrid Masters on Thursday by world number 14 Kei Nishikori as the Japanese came through 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 in their third round clash.

5) Serena, Sharapova ease into quarters

World No.1 Serena Williams cruised into the Madrid Open quarter-finals as she dismantled 13th seed Maria Kirilenko 6-3, 6-1 in just an hour and four minutes on Thursday. On the other hand world No.2 Maria Sharapova, who has yet to drop a set, continued her stroll into the quarter-finals as she overcame Sabine Lisicki 6-2, 7-5.

6) Napoli confirm Champions League berth, Milan come closer

Napoli beat Bologna 3-0 to book a Champions League berth for next season, while AC Milan came closer to that spot after thrashing Pescara 4-0 in Italian Serie A.

7) Nuggets’ Carl named Coach of the Year

George Karl of the Denver Nuggets was named the NBA Coach of the Year on Wednesday, the first time in his 25-year career he claimed the award.

8) China’s ‘Super Dan’ gets World Championship wildcard

Chinese star Lin Dan will defend his title at this year’s world championships after organisers gave him a wildcard to raise the tournament’s profile, a statement said Thursday.

9) Unheralded Castro seizes Players Championship lead

In a star-studded field, unheralded Roberto Castro matched the course record with a nine-under par 63 to seize the first-round lead at the Players Championship.

10) Cavendish wins Gero sixth stage, Paolini retains pink

Britain’s Mark Cavendish claimed his second win on the 96th Giro d’Italia Thursday when he dominated a bunch sprint at the end of the 169km sixth stage between Mola di Bari and Margherita de Savoia.
