The Moto 360 Sport – ideal for athletes and fitness enthusiasts

The Moto 360 Sport – a watch built for fitness and sports fans

So, the Bengaluru TCS World 10k run finished a couple of weeks ago, and surprisingly enough, I was able to complete it in good time, well, good at least for someone who hadn’t run a 10k before, ever.

During my preparation for the run, though I tried very hard but was falling short of the target I had in mind, to complete the run in 50 minutes. When a friend suggested the Moto 360 Sport, it turned out to be a great help!

I was able to pinpoint when exactly during my practice runs my intensity fell, taking the pace of running down with it, and by working on a little more cardio-training and core strengthening, it helped me to cut down my time, as I eventually finished the TCS 10K in 46 minutes, not too bad for a first-timer!

Designed for people who are sporty and fitness oriented, right from its appearance to its working, the Moto 360 Sport is meant to survive a rigorous workout, and yet operate in a sleek manner.

Now, as someone who engages in sports activities a lot when not working, a watch that lets me perform all my functions to the best, and better still, aids me in working out better, is the best I can ask for.

A big issue faced with watches in general is that when one sweats, it affects the grip of the watch, making it sticky, leaves marks on the skin and is difficult to deal with. That’s not something to worry about with the Moto 360 Sport, as it doesn’t stick to the skin, nor does it absorb sweat or fade, so is easy to wear!

After reading up a bit, I found out it was made of strong silicone, which doesn’t stick to surfaces and that’s why it was so easy to use.

Just as it helped me, all runners and cyclists will enjoy using the Moto 360 Sport. An in-built GPS feature helped monitor the distance I covered during the workout, the pace at which I ran/ cycled and how quick my laps were, helping me plan my workouts better.

The watch helps keep an eye on one's heartbeart at all times – a great feature

The watch allowed me to sync my workout data with fitness apps like Strava and MapMyRun, both of which helped design my fitness schedule in order to optimise my routine and offered the best possible solution.

Imagine someone is a professional long-distance runner and needs something to plan his/ her workouts better. Of course, you have your coaches and fitness trainers, but the ease of monitoring works much better when you yourself, as an athlete, are able to facilitate higher performance levels.

An irritating feature of watches and phones is that a lot of times, when viewed with the sun overhead, it becomes very difficult to spot the screen. Similarly, in a dark room, it sometimes gets tough to spot the dial with ease.

That has been offset in the Moto 360 Sport, with there being a display system that adapts itself to suit the ambience, enabling me to view the screen clearly at all times, minimizing my struggle!

Moto 360 has a clear display, both indoors and outdoors

At the end of the day, an android watch is meant to function at a level similar to an android phone, and the Moto 360 Sport accomplishes that with ease. I’ve used the watch to keep a track of my Gmail calendar for meetings, while alerts pop up informing me about when I am supposed to meet friends for football.

Notifications from Whatsapp and Facebook allowed me to catch up with friends, apart from checking weather updates to know when best to step out, very useful in a place like Bangalore, where weather changes very quickly.

The Moto 360 Sport is ideally suited to sports-oriented people, helping them prioritise their commitments, while at the same time providing them with a lot of support and data that can help finetune and maintain their physical fitness scheules.
