Some of the biggest names in the event; the fastest men on the planet; likes of Gay, Blake, Gatlin, Powell and Bolt were flexing muscles for the gold. Who would clinch this? The announcer introduced the sprinters who needed no introduction. Each man had his own way of acknowledging the call and there are no prizes for guessing who evokes the maximum cheers; the man of the moment Usain Bolt.
The man has had a few problems over the past couple of seasons but the initial heats showed that he was well at his best as he breezed past this opponents to reach the finals. Here he met his biggest rival in the form of fellow countryman Yohan Blake but will Blake be able to repeat history? Arousing the crowd with his this signature “To Di World” pose, Bolt was brimming with confidence. He almost gave out the air of someone who knows that he’s going to win and by a margin.
Everyone took mark and at the sound of the bullet, the race to find out the quickest man on earth was go. An event that lasts for under 10 seconds but has years of training that goes into it was finally under way. Bolt didn’t have the best of starts but again, that is not what he is very well known for. We know Bolt for his sheer power, brimming confidence and an intimidating theatricalism! Coming to full force in the second half of the race, the burners were at full blast and he shifted into a gear which no other human on this planet possesses. Finishing a good 0.12 seconds ahead of Yohan Blake, Usain Bolt proved who the champion is. 9.63 seconds and that too effortlessly- Bolt is worship worthy.
The fact that a man can perform like this at the highest level of a sport in the world just shows the calibre he possesses. Almost a superhuman run, Bolt was not even looking at his competitors while running. His glance was focused on the clock and he definitely felt a chance of bettering the world record of 9.59. While others grimaced and strained while putting in the effort to cross the line, Bolt has a unique divinity or serenity to himself; he doesn’t run, he floats and how! A man of powers beyond comprehension, Usain Bolt is worthy of the crown of ‘The Fastest Man on Planet Earth’ in the true sense and with a name like that, it’s just the icing on the cake. Hail, the Bolt!
