1838 – Birthday of Nat Thompson, cricketer who has the distinction of being the first batsman dismissed in a Test match when he was clean bowled by England’s Allen Hill.

1946 - Birthday of S Venkataraghavan, Indian off-spinner, Test umpire and ICC referee.

1988 – 1st four-day games in County Cricket Championship commence.

1905- Boca Juniors played their first match ever, beating Mariano Moreno in a friendly, 4-0.
