Three crucial fixtures that could decide the top four league positions

Arsenal vs Manchester City

The outcome of the battle of North-Londoners and the Blue part of Manchester could easily end up deciding the outcome of this season’s title race, though a win for City does not necessarily guarantee them a chance to bridge the gap in the points table. Considering Man City’s away record and Arsenal’s record at Emirates, it’s fair to say that Arsenal have a slight edge over them. Having played 15 away fixtures this season, Man City managed seven wins, drawing and losing four. Arsenal having played 15 matches at games, have managed 11 wins, drawing and losing twice.

Arsenal’s last defeat at home came at the hands of Manchester United, way back on 22nd of January, where the Red Devils saw off the Gunners with a 2-1 victory. Recent injuries to Vincent Kompany has had a major effect on their title chances, as well as top scorer Sergio Aguero. David Silva’s poor form continues to trouble him and his team, his last significant contribution was an assist against Blackburn where City won 3-0. Whereas from the Arsenal ranks Theo Walcott is enjoying a superb run of form, Robin Van Persie has been influential as usual, but their defence has been a major headache for Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal vs Chelsea

The two teams from London, battle it out for the crucial Champions League spot. Fernando Torres is slowly returning back to usual start from what has been a nightmare start to the season until recently and Chelsea’s recent success wherein they have managed to go through to the Semi Finals of FA Cup and the Champions League will give some confidence for the Blues. When Roman Abramovich sacked Andre Villas Boas, many pundits expected Chelsea to have a bad season. But Di Matteo has injected some spirit back into the Chelsea squad. Arsenal will depend on the likes of Robin Van Persie, Theo Walcott and Mikel Arteta to see them through.

Arsenal 3 – Chelsea FC 1

Chelsea FC 2 – Arsenal 0

Manchester City vs Manchester United

Arguably the biggest match of the season and if Manchester United end up dropping points ahead of this fixture, it could decide who will be lifting the title for 2011-12 season. After the 6-1 battering at the hands of City last October, United replied with a 3-2 victory at the Etihad in the F.A Cup fixture. But the 6-1 demolition at the hands of City will be hard to forget for United fans around the world, a victory and title glory could only act as a make up for the humiliation. United’s away form has been excellent this season, where they have lost only a single match and having won twelve and drawn twice, their only loss came at the hands of Newcastle United way back in early January. Their away form is equally matched by an impressive home form of Man City, where they haven’t lost a single game this season, having won 15 and drawing only once. The return of Paul Scholes has been morale booster for the Red Devils. Man Utd have taken 31 points from the 11 Premier League games Paul Scholes has featured in this season.Valencia, Rooney and Evans holds the key for Manchester United, and City will look towards the likes of Kompany, Balotelli and Aguero.

Results from the last three meetings:

Manchester City FC 2 – Man Utd. 3

Man Utd. 1 – Manchester City FC 6

Manchester City FC 2 – Man Utd. 3
