The NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball championship is an elimination tournament that is held every year, in which the teams are divided into 4 different regions. The winners of each region play in the Final Four, which is held on a Saturday, while the NCAA Championship is held on a Monday.
For the title match between Louisville and Michigan of the 2012-2013 season, CBS, who was the broadcaster of the tournament, earned as much as $1.6 million for 30 second ad spots. This was an increase of 10% than the previous year, when the broadcaster earned $1.45 million.
